Introduction

Famous for holding annual Thanksgiving Day Parades in New York City, Macy’s is an American department store chain and the largest in the US by retail sales. Through their 540+ stores as well as online through Macys.com, it is particularly known for its mid-range priced collection of housewares, furniture, bedding, clothing, footwear, accessories, jewelry and beauty products.

What to Buy

With ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions affecting not only social habits but purchasing power as well due to widespread job cuts, it is not surprising how practically all of the big-name department stores around the world have struggled to stay afloat with their significantly reduced customer base, especially in their brick-and-mortar stores.

Fortunately, US department store giant Macy’s has, so far, managed to weather the crisis by harnessing its over two decades of e-commerce experience with Macys.com, which was one of the first department stores to have an online presence. As of the second quarter of 2020--in the midst of the pandemic—the chain posted a 53% growth in online sales.

Macys.com offers the same kind of seamless shopping experience customers have always known and loved at Macy’s stores since 1858. Find out for yourself how Macy’s brings its shopping excellence online by visiting the site and browsing all your favorites by Department, including Women, Men, Kids & Baby, Gifts & Toys, Beauty, Home, Bed & Bath, Furniture & Mattresses, Shoes, Jewelry, Watches, Handbags & Accessories, Holiday Shop, Sale & Clearance and more.

And just because you’re online doesn’t mean Macy’s is ditching their famous Seasonal Sales (listed as “Lowest Prices of the Season”) where you can get from 20% to 50% off on a wide variety of popular brands plus extra bonus savings of 10% to 24% on select products with special “Value Added Promo Codes”. Using these combinations of deals, you can get a chance to snatch up great items from KitchenAid, DKNY, Coach, Calvin Klein, Martha Stewart, Bulova, Serta, and many more at up to 75% down from regular prices.

Highlights

At the time of this article’s writing, Macys.com is offering FREE Shipping with a $25 or more order (within the contiguous US only). Regular (non-promo) Free Shipping minimum is $99 within the continental US with a surcharge of $10 for Alaska, Hawaii, Military Addresses and U.S. Territories.

Premium and Express Shipping are also available in all 50 states for a $10.95 + $10.00 and $10.95 + $15.00 upgrade fee respectively.

Furthermore, if you live in an area with a Macy’s store nearby you can avail of their Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store service. If your order is placed by 3:00pm in your local time zone, it will be ready for pickup that day. You will be notified when your order is ready for pickup. Simply place your order online after which your selected store receives your order. Your merchandise is then collected from the store's current inventory and prepared for pickup. Macy’s will contact you when the order is ready, notify you of any changes, where then you can pick up your order at no extra charge!

And because safety is of optimum concern during coronavirus social distancing restrictions, Macy’s also offers Contact-Free Curbside Pickup where you can shop online and receive orders at select store locations from your car, contact-free with pickup hours from 11am-5pm, Monday-Friday (Note: When you arrive to pick up your order, you’ll need your Ready for Pickup email and a valid government-issued ID).

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for an easier, pocket-friendlier way to pay for your Macy’s purchases especially during these tough times in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis; the store has partnered with Klarna so you can Shop Now, Pay Later through four (4) interest-free payments. Just add picks to your bag (totaling between $10 and $1,000); choose Klarna (appears only on eligible items) at checkout and answer a few questions to find out if you’re approved; complete your order and check your inbox for an email confirmation from Klarna; and receive your first charge when your order ships. The remaining three payments will then be automatically processed every 2 weeks.

Macy’s wants you to love your purchase, but if you are not completely satisfied, they will gladly accept most Returns and Exchanges by mail and in stores within 90 days of purchase for FREE (exceptions apply). Returned items must be in original, saleable condition with original tags. Shipping and delivery fees are non-refundable. Simply prepare your original receipt, the credit card you used to purchase, your return label or packing slip, and you will get a refund in the original form of payment.

If you have a gift receipt, a return label or a bridal registry number, you will also be eligible to get a refund in the form of a store credit. Furthermore, even if you don't have proof of purchase, you may still be eligible for store credit for the item's lowest selling price within the last 180 days.

Want an even faster and more convenient way to make a return to Macy’s? They've recently partnered with the delivery experts at Deliv to bring you Return Pickup—a new way for you to return items, designed to fit your schedule. Just pick a time and place and they'll send a driver to pick up your return—no need for a trip to the post office or the store!

Finally, sign up to Macy’s Backstage, Macy’s store-within-a-store retailing unique, curated (not sale or clearance!) products selected by their team of experts who find all the latest trends in fashion, home décor, electronics, and gifts at low prices. New products are added every single day, so you never know what’s new until you shop in-store! FYI, it’s first come, first serve, so the earliest ones get all the best finds!
