Introduction

Microsoft Office 2019 is the most common office application bundle you’d find. It’s not only more affordable and worthwhile in the long-term; the bundle includes all the classic Office applications namely, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook that you’ll ever need.

What to Buy

Unlike in Office 365 where you’ll get to use premium versions of the apps, Microsoft Office 2019 only contains the classic version of the most common office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook.

However, in contrast to Office 365’s regular new features and updates, Microsoft Office is the sort of application bundle that’s re-released with some new features year after year. For the 2019 version, for instance, users will have access to new features such as Focused Inbox in Outlook, and Focus mode in Word.

However, this doesn’t mean you’ll have to purchase the new version annually… that is unless you actually want to, which in this case, you might be better off subscribing to Office 365. Instead, the Office that you have can very likely last as long as you are happy using it or that Windows supports it with important updates.

Although Office 2019 is comparatively cheaper than a costly annual subscription, it does have a couple of “downsides” which may matter to you, depending on your needs. For example, if you’re using the apps for business whereby team collaborations are crucial, then you might find Office 2019 lacking as it doesn’t include Microsoft Teams.

There isn’t much when it comes to tech support either – you’ll only get a 60-day free tech support but once that duration expires, you’ll be left to trawling forums for answers if you find yourself wrecking your head over an issue with your office apps.

Highlights

The best thing about Office 2019 is that it allows users who don’t need all the premium features of Office 365 to obtain and use the Microsoft’s suite of office applications without having to shell out a hefty annual subscription. It’s definitely a bang for their buck.

Is It Time to Buy?

Microsoft Office 2019 is perfect if you simply need to use some of the more common Microsoft office apps and that you don’t mind using an older version of said apps as long as they work as they are intended to. Not to mention, considering that a license for the Microsoft Office apps only cost once and can last a lifetime, getting a copy of Office 2019 is incredibly worthwhile for the common folk and small businesses.
