Introduction

Eurail is a travel service that offers an all-in-one train pass that will allow you to travel everywhere either within one of the 27 European countries or within 31 countries in Europe, whenever you want. The pass doesn’t only include trains; you can travel by bus or ferry too!

What to Buy

Travelling across Europe has never been easier with the advent of its impressive network of high-speed railways which connects not only the largest cities but also the smaller villages. However, these railways are owned by different companies and buying tickets from so many companies and making sure you didn’t mess up the times and dates can be quite the chore.

This is where Eurail pass comes in!

With the Eurail pass, you will be able to take any train ride you need regardless of the carrier and travel whenever it’s convenient for you. Yes, this means that if you happen to miss a train you want to catch, you can simply hop on the next train instead!

The Eurail pass comes in two types – Global Pass and One-Country Pass. The Global Pass will let you travel to and explore up to 31 countries in Europe while the One-Country Pass will let you travel around within one out of the 27 countries available.

This form of flexible access to most trains in Europe is only beneficial if you’re planning to visit multiple destinations rather than wanting to just go from point Y to Z though. Take note that some railway carriers, especially those in France, Italy and Spain, may require you to reserve a seat first before boarding a train. Reservation comes at a fee and this fee isn’t included in your Eurail pass. In other words, you’ll have to pay for the reservation fee yourself.

You’ll need to activate and validate your Eurail pass prior to boarding your first train. Thankfully, you can do that completely online by using the Eurail activation service during checkout. However, if you forgot, you can always activate your pass at any European train station. Note that you’ll need to activate your pass within 11 months of the issuing date.

Also, if you’re European, a Eurail pass isn’t the right one for you – you’d want to grab an interrail pass instead.

However, do bear in mind that each Eurail pass comes with a travel diary that you will need to fill in. Before boarding any transport using your pass, make sure to record the trip down using a blue or black-ink pen. Forgetting to do this could put you a risk of being fined and you may need to pay the full fare.

You’ll then need to send the diary back to Eurail in exchange for a small gift, but if you want the diary back as a souvenir, simply let them know and they will send the travel diary back to you as well.

You might want to also about know this because since the pass is basically made from paper, most people would laminate the paper just so it will not turn into mush during your travels. But know that doing so will invalidate your pass, so as opposed to laminating, you might want to keep it in a plastic wallet instead.

Highlights

For anyone who wants to travel across Europe, this pass is amazingly convenient to use, allowing you to utilize the massive network of high-speed trains to get to where you want to be at a fraction of the cost. Plus, these passes don’t restrict you unlike traditional train tickets do, so you can grab a ride whenever you need to.

Not to mention, your Eurail pass can function as a discount card as well. As long as the pass is valid within the country you are in, you’ll be surprised to know about the wide range of discounts and special offers available.

Is It Time to Buy?

Have you always wanted to travel across Europe? Well, save some money and some time by grabbing a Eurail pass so you can make full use of the expansive and high-speed train networks that’s available there! It’s just so much more convenient since you don’t have to carry around a bunch of tickets, and if you missed a train, you can just hop on the next one!
