What to Buy

No matter how meticulously you’ve planned your overseas trip, things out of your control may happen. If something untoward happens, you’ll want to have a safety net to fall back on. AXA SmartTraveller is that safety net.

AXA SmartTraveller comes in two types – Individual/Group or Family. The former insurance plan is mainly designed with adults in mind while the Family plan is best if you are bringing your kids along on the trip. For the individual/group plan, you can also choose between getting insurance for a single trip, or an annual plan which frankly is a lot more worthwhile if you’re a very frequent traveler.

What allows AXA SmartTraveller stand out from among its competition is the fact that they insure you for a plethora of inconveniences, including but not limited to loss or damage of baggage and personal items, replacing missing passport, travel tickets, and other relevant travel documents, travel delays, flight cancellations, missed departures, travel reroute, and more.

If you do fell seriously ill on your trip or if you were involved in an accident of some sort, know that AXA got your back with its wide coverage of medical, hospital and other expenses, such as on the off-chance you need to ship your mortal remains to your family back home. Their travel insurance also includes the cost of emergency dental treatment, hospital allowances, quarantined cover, as well as emergency transportation and medical care, but naturally, the amount insured is halved once your age is above 65.

If you have children under your care while you’re overseas and seriously ill, AXA SmartTraveller will provide a certain insured amount for your child to fly back home and be in the care of a relative or friend. And if you happen to pass away, AXA will also set up a Child Education Fund for any children you may have left behind.

In addition to home care benefit, which will provide you with an insured amount if your home went up in flames while you’re away, AXA even has special coverages for terrorism and ransom payment if something truly terrible happened while you’re away from home in a foreign land. The sum insured is relatively high as well.

Highlights

AXA SmartTraveller is a very transparent insurance plan. Everything you’ll need to know is presented clearly on their website and if you have questions, they have a sales rep ready to answer your questions. You can even find guides that teach you how to buy the most suitable insurance for you, and if needed, how to submit a claim.
